Book Hire for Book Clubs

Since January 2010 I have been supplying sets of books to book clubs in Western Australia. The business has gradually grown to include over one hundred titles. I have met a host of lovely people who share my passion for reading and enjoy the friendships and fun that book clubs provide.

The personal connections that we make with particular books may be influenced by experiences we remember from our childhoods. My years in country WA definitely gives me a different perspective on some books than many of my city bred book club members. Having worked as a children’s librarian for almost thirty years has made me appreciate the importance of setting, plot and well developed characters in a well written narrative.

The books I select are not “loved” by everyone who reads them. Sometimes we despise the characters, find the story bleak or hate the ending, but this gives us more room for discussion. New clubs are welcome to contact me through this website.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris

Books|

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is based on the true story. In that terrible place, Lale was given the job of tattooing the prisoners marked for survival - literally scratching numbers into his fellow victims' arms in indelible ink to create what would become one of the most potent symbols of the Holocaust.

As a ‘book club’ we are very happy with using your library. It takes away the stress of each person choosing and purchasing books. We have a good choice of books from the lists you supply. The sets of books have always arrived in time. I have belonged to other book clubs and find this way much easier than any other.

Annette, Albany WA

“Living in a country town can make it difficult to have access to a range of books suitable for a Bookclub. I run my group at Pemberton and have used Jacquie at Serendipity Book Hire for several years now. It’s a fantastic way to get the number of books we need, (plus those all-important reading notes and discussion questions) delivered to my door prior to our next meeting. For the ladies in our Bookclub, the meetings mean so much more to us than just reading the book. We are friends, we enjoy the chance for intellectual discussion and every meeting the topics we discuss raise new issues that allow us to understand each other with new insight. Jacquie has an interesting range of titles and we have been exposed to many new authors from around the world. Her system of payment and postage of the books works well with very few glitches over the years. Bookclub is definitely a highlight of the month for our group, a meeting we all look forward to – and I’m grateful to have Jacquie’s service available to us here in the South West.”

The “Good Friends” Bookclub has been hiring books from Serendipity Farm Book Hire for quite a few years. The cost is very reasonable and there are ample titles to choose from.
Jacquie delivers and collects from my door which is very convenient.
It’s a great service.
